It was like an external memory drive for his brain, he wrote in a book called “Total Recall.”

Sounds pretty sci-fi, right? Not so much. The “real-time sharing” updates Facebook announced Thursday aim to do something quite similar — only for the Internet instead of in real life.

The University of Washinton’s Managing Health Information In Your Life project has the goal of “Supporting the information management needs of breast cancer patients”

We are designing an information system to help people with breast cancer manager their health information. When making treatment decisions and undergoing treatment, patients are often overwhelmed by the accumulation of unfamiliar information that they need to keep and use. We want to make it easier for people to organize and maintain all of their information within the context of managing the rest of their lives and schedules.

Our best wishes to the team members! Here is some coverage of the project on CNN.

ReadiBand is a wristwatch-like device which tracks wrist movements to estimate how you are sleeping:

Our scientifically proven system is highly accurate. A recent study showed that the ReadiBand™, coupled with our patented classification algorithms, assessed sleep virtually as well as sleep lab polysomnography (93% accurate).

Based on ReadiBand™ data, we provide a range of sleep statistics, such as sleep efficiency, sleep duration, and time to sleep onset. In addition, once the ReadiBand™ data are automatically processed through our patented and validated computer model, fatigue risk levels are calculated and displayed

The ReadiBand was recently used by the Vancouver Canucks in their NHL playoff run. In the video about the Canucks, they also mention wearing the device 24×7 and measuring the impact of sleep on reaction time.

I’m trying out a fitbit now. I wonder how ReadiBand compares?

We’ve all had that memory from our past that we can’t quite recall all the details of no matter how hard we try. This week, we talk with Jim Gemmell, co-author of Your Life, Uploaded, who tells us why this won’t continue to be a problem in the near future. With data storage getting cheaper by the day, the rapid adoption of self-measurement and recording devices, and software to organize this data, humans will have the ability to record virtually every aspect of their life if they choose to. In essence, we will be able to access our lives with the click of a button.Bruno discusses with Jim the explosion of cheap data storage, implications on our personal lives, and how it will allow companies to measure and store aspects of their business that weren’t previously imaginable. They even discuss new and innovative ways of finding the millions of documents we now store with search terms “find all documents saved on days when the temperature outside exceeded 90 degrees!” Watch our latest video and learn more about how big data collection and correlation can help your business
